Irizar e-mobility is set to provide nine 18-metre emission-free electric buses to In-de-City-Bus GmbH (ICB) Frankfurt (Germany), in addition to nine interoperable slow charge stations for their garages. The same operator has procured five Solaris Urbino 12 Electric.

With a huge battery equipment 560 kWh of stored energy and a range of 220 to 250 km stated by the manufacturer, the latest generation of Iriziar ie bus units are equipped with three doors, 46 seats and two spaces for wheelchairs or pushchairs. The first deliveries are expected by the end of this year. The Irizar ie bus has been launched in an updated version at Busworld 2019. 14 units of the vehicles (in the 10.8-meter version) will also hit the roads of Genoa, in Italy.

Irizar grows in Germany with e-buses

The electric buses for Frankfurt will be charged overnight via nine interoperable chargers fitted with CCS Combo 2 adapters. With this news, Irizar further grows its presence in Germany and, after completing an order for ten 12-metre zero-emission buses in Dusseldorf, it continues to provide its electromobility services in Frankfurt.

The group points outa that it offers its sales and after-sales services for electric buses and charging infrastructures in the German, Austrian and Swiss markets through Ferrostaal Equipment Solutions. The first units are expected to be delivered by the end of this year. The Irizar Group continues with its strategy of positioning itself at the forefront of electromobility solutions for European cities and is committed to investing in alternative sources of energy and large-scale European projects in order to contribute to a future characterised by sustainable mobility.

ICB, the largest bus operator in Frankfurt

The municipal company ICB is the largest bus company in Frankfurt. It boasts a fleet of 162 latest-generation low-emission buses, transporting more than 31 million passengers each year. As the City of Frankfurt am Main is pursuing the goal of operating all bus traffic by 2030 with alternative drive types, the purchase of nine 18-metre emission-free electric buses is a big step towards low-emission urban transport.
