FPT Industrial will participate in Busworld 2023 focusing on battery packs for minibuses and buses, as well as an in-house developed BMS

At its stand (No. 424 – Hall 4), FPT Industrial will present its complete line of innovative and sustainable solutions for mass transport.

In its debut as an independent exhibitor at Busworld, FPT Industrial will display products and solutions for both internal combustion engine buses and buses with electric propulsion (ePowertrain).

Particularly with regard to electric propulsion, FPT Industrial is rapidly establishing itself as one of the undisputed market players, thanks also to the opening of the dedicated ePowertrain plant in Turin in October 2022.

FPT Industrial at Busworld: battery packs and BMS for e-buses

FPT Industrial is a supplier of zero-emission solutions for all bus applications, in particular battery packs and battery management systems (BMS).

Visitors to the brand’s stand at Busworld 2023 will have the opportunity to check and touch three long-awaited ePowertrain products. The first is the eBS37 EVO 37 kWh battery pack for minibuses with energy density of up to 140 Wh/kg, up to eight years warranty and new class-leading safety features (ECE R100.3). It will be used on the eDaily minibus.

This battery pack adopts the eBM5, the first BMS developed by FPT Industrial with advanced battery management algorithms to ensure a higher level of safety, precision and performance.

The third product on show will be the 69 kWh eBS69 battery pack for electric buses, with best-in-class energy density of up to 178 Wh/kg and up to 10 years warranty, which optimises installation in customers’ vehicles and is ideal for bus applications. It’s the battery that is set to be mounted on the updated generation of the Iveco Bus E-Way from late 2024.

FPT – Reefilla for 2nd life of batteries

The eBS37 battery model is also the subject of a new partnership between FPT Industrial and Reefilla, an innovative start-up company from Turin offering the first predictive mobile charging service for commercial fleets and private individuals. This pilot project is aimed at giving batteries for minibuses and electric commercial vehicles a second life. The eBS37 batteries that are no longer suitable for electric traction will be handed over to Reefilla, which will recover the battery modules and more than 50 per cent of their internal components. The components will be installed on Fillee, mobile power-banks that Reefilla uses to recharge its customers’ electric vehicles.

In the segment of buses with internal combustion engines, FPT Industrial will present its N67 NG engine, which offers output and torque of up to 285 hp and 1,250 Nm respectively, “low fuel consumption, reduced noise compared to diesel engines thanks to stoichiometric multipoint combustion, and reduced CO2 emissions of up to 15% (harmonised transient driving cycle)”, FPT states.
