The official announcement came a month ago, at the 64th UITP summit in Barcelona: Ubitransport, the intelligent transportation systems expert, announced that it had become part of Matawan to flesh out its strategy of accelerating the deployment of new networks in France and abroad. And, for that matter, throughout Europe.

Equipped with more than 300 networks, Ubitransport has established itself as a leading provider in France of cloud solutions for the management and optimization of public transport in all urban and rural areas.
A member of French Tech 120 for the past 4 years, Ubitransport joined Matawan to accelerate the deployment of its offering in France and Europe and to become the digital mobility platform that connects public transport to other modes of mobility.

In just 10 years, Ubitransport, which now employs 250 people and is targeting revenues of 50 million euros, has managed to establish itself as the SaaS platform of choice in the world of mobility. By early adopting the cloud for greater flexibility, technical possibilities and to reduce costs, Ubitransport quickly established itself in France as a leader in connected ticketing, equipping 65 percent of the regions.

This approach has enabled Ubitransport to provide solutions to millions of users by opening up sparsely populated areas, making inclusive and sustainable mobility part of its DNA from the very beginning. These are important assets that, together with the expertise of its teams, its innovative solutions, and its hyper-growth, have earned the French scale-up more than forty awards, and in 2022 it was the only French company to be included in the prestigious international Red Herring Top 100 Global1 ranking.

“Matawan was designed to support the major changes that mobility is experiencing today. We know that the choices each of us makes to get around are linked to economic, environmental and social issues. With our solutions for managing and optimizing public transport modes, we want to act to accelerate the modal shift towards inclusive and environmentally friendly modes,” says Jérôme Tredan, CEO of Matawan.

Ubitransport’s new life in Matawan

This transformation comes after several significant developments for the company, including a €45 million fundraising in 2019, the acquisition of four companies, including the Côte d’Azur based start-up Mobireport, and its recognition as a member of the French Tech 120 program for the past four years.

As an expert in intelligent transportation systems, Matawan (“Mobility Any Time. Any Where. Any Node“) offers cloud-based solutions for public transportation management, thereby becoming the digital mobility platform that connects public transportation with other modes of mobility.

The four pillars of its offering are WanFare (ticketing solution), WanPay (monetary solution), WanReport (reporting and service quality), and WanData (mobility intelligence).
