Volvo Buses, only electric buses for the cities. But the batteries are not to be bought…

Volvo Buses has been the first manufacturer to stop the production of diesel city buses in order to shift all the efforts and energies on electric bus technology. With a total of more than 4.000 electrified buses sold world over, the company is one of the world leaders in the fast-expanding market of electrified buses. Sustainable Bus met Håkan Agnevall, president of Volvo Buses. In the inteview, he explains the organization of the company in electromobility, the evolution of electric bus market, the standardization of charging systems and much more.

Volvo Buses and the articulated electric bus

Volvo Buses in these days is showcasing its concept of full electric articulated bus. It is running through Gothenburg on the occasion of the Volvo Ocean Race (14-21 June) in Sweden. Volvo’s articulated electric bus, which is currently at the concept stage, can transport up to 135 passengers. Two units will be tested on part of route 16 operated by Västtrafik. A few days ago, furthermore, Volvo Buses, through its North American subsidiary Nova Bus, has received the single largest order for hybrid buses ever signed by the group (and the biggest order in the story of Nova Bus history to date). It consists in 497 hybrid buses that will be delivered to the transit authorities in Quebec (Canada). Deliveries will take place 2020-2025.
